Bull tattoos can feature such mythical creatures as Babe the Big Blue Ox or the mythical Minotaur half man half bull tattoos. The bull is praised in many of the pagan cultures and these bull tattoos are often drawn in praise of just such a worship and system of belief and tattoo symbolism. It may tend to send mixed messages putting religious tattoos right next to bull tattoos and other pagan tattoos. They may seem to be overly sore for the first few hours after you get them but generally what little pain your new tattoo may cause will go away very quickly. When you do get tattoos in more sensitive regions, the pain can last a little longer and that is one reason those tattoos’ designs are not recommended as a choice for a first tattoo.

One thing to keep in mind about many of the armband tattoos is that they are generally very complex so they can be a little difficult to draw. Relatively simple tattoos like the cross tattoos are comparatively easy to draw and do not take so much time but the majority of armband tattoos are like the dragonfly tattoos that are small and often painfully intricate. While it is important not to move during the application of any of these tattoo designs, it can be exceptionally costly when doing the intricate lattice work on an armband tattoo so it helps to be a little relaxed before you go in to get inked.

Now if you have looked at any relatively recent (historically speaking) tattoos pictures … at least sense the introduction of the camera has made this possible, you may think that all of the old school tattoos were nothing more than green ink or what is often referred to these days as “prison ink” for tattoos was about all that the tattoo artists had to work with back then. While this may be the case for some of the world in the twentieth century, fortunately, these “old school” tattoos were limited to pretty much that period in time. The days of the plain green tattoos like the old cross tattoos and star tattoos are pretty much limited to prison anymore unless someone is just really intent on recreating one of these old school tattoos for posterity sake.

The Asian societies and many tribal cultures have used selected dyes from plants and even animal by-products to create very colorful “old school” tattoos that even many of the tattoo artists around today would be proud to have in their tattoo galleries. Perhaps one of the most famous sets of old school tattoos would be the Chinese, Japanese or other Asian Character tattoos which, by contrast, were actually relatively dull by comparison but these generally only told a story about the person bearing the tattoo. The other tribal and Asian tattoos were generally much more intricate and while they did not express it in words, the ideas or symbolism of the tattoos was every bit as important as the color and beauty of these “old school” tattoos that have been around for centuries.

These symbolic old school tattoos were often representative or symbolic of the people, their cultures and their beliefs in ideas and symbols. Tattoos were often used to allow everyone from those within the tribe to their enemies know more about the power and magic possessed by the person … all through the symbolism of tattoos and how they were worn. Pictures of tattoos featuring portraits show us that portrait tattoos do go back at least as far as the history of the camera and thus, it is relatively safe to say that the portrait tattoos likely extend even further back in time than that even in the Western World. Face tattoos and mask tattoos featuring portraits may be a relatively new kind of tattoo in the western world but the traditions once again go back much further than that in the Eastern World. East Indian portrait tattoos often featured pictures of the gods that were being celebrated and worshiped by the local population. Some portraits on the more feminine tattoos feature the faces of angels, fairies and even the portrait of Jesus tattoos are very common. The Bull tattoos were fairly common in the Latin American countries in days past and these often were expressed with a full portrait tattoo painted on the person’s face to give them the appearance of a bull. Many of the military tattoos are memorial tattoos. Among the Christian tattoos are many popular styles and tattoo designs. When you design tattoos for the ankle, you do not generally have to worry about too many other people taking too close a look. In fact, well designed ankle tattoos and foot tattoos can be kept largely out of site and may even pass muster in jobs where tattoos are not allowed … though that is not a guarantee by any means. The Polynesian people spread out across the South Pacific, many during times when there was no recorded history to speak of. Usually one tends to see pictures of tattoos that depict spiders on those whom society has deemed to require incarceration and for good reason, since these are usually pretty bad guys.

However with tattoos becoming more and more acceptable in the past few decades, those darker meanings to spider tattoos have left to the more shady aspects of society and spiders have gotten other connotations, more modern connotations if we would think about the Lord of The Rings books and movies or the very popular comic book character and movie franchise Spider-Man.
